What should I do in case of an emergency?
Ecdysis Clinical Psychedelic Therapy does not offer crisis or after-hours support. In the case of an emergency, please phone 111, go to your nearest emergency department, or phone your local Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand (formerly DHB) mental health crisis team which can be located here: https://www.healthnz.govt.nz/health-topics/mental-health/crisis-assessment-teams
The Wellington, Hutt, and Kapiti crisis phone number is 0800 745 477
The Wairarapa crisis phone number is 0508 432 432
While Ecdysis does not provide emergency or after-hours support, if you are experiencing an intense emotional crisis, some basic steps to take include the following:
1
If you are feeling overwhelmed and/or distressed, and cannot settle yourself, one option is to reach out to a friend or loved one who can support you.
5
If the previous steps don’t help, reach out to your GP or your therapist if you are currently in therapy.
2
You can also try calming techniques such as breathing, meditation, or going for a walk.
6
If you begin to feel suicidal we recommend that you immediately contact your GP, contact your therapist should you have one, contact the Crisis Hotline, or go to your local Emergency Department. A list of crisis hotline numbers can be found @ https://www.healthnz.govt.nz/health-topics/mental-health/crisis-assessment-teams.
3
If the previous steps do not work, engaging in distractions you enjoy may help.
7
If you do not feel you can wait to call the crisis line, contact your GP, or go to your local Emergency Department, then call Emergency Services at 111.
4
If none of these efforts are decreasing your distress, or your distress is continuing to increase, and you have been given a prescription of medication to treat anxiety/distress, consider taking this medication.
